Tony Goldwyn can really sell the tortured/longing/pained looks. I've read that in the those scenes the other actor is out of sight on set playing the other half of the scene. That has to help verisimilitude since he and Kerry Washington have that ever elusive chemistry.
I wonder if they're going to use Fitz's brain damage from the shooting as the excuse for at least the killing of Verna. Although I think Shonda's characters get some pretty wide latitude for highly questionable behavior.
As for Jake (Scott Foley), I'm guessing that there are going to be all sorts of unpleasant reveals. In one of the scenes in his apartment he's on the phone with Olivia and he stops to straighten a glass that's slightly out of place. For some reason that really struck me. That he's someone who needs to be in total control. I"m curious to see if that really plays out.
Between Scandal and The Americans, I'm actually looking forward to television again for the first time in a long time.
