And I guess it didn't work for me because I didn't want her back in NYC. And I didn't won't her back around Miranda (whom I had come to view as a bad friend -- the kind who's only your friend as long as you're doing what they want you to do and will nitpick and nitpick and nitpick when you don't).
So the ending really didn't work for me. But I think you're correct that that was what the vast majority of the audience wanted, and that Big, therefore, served a good purpose from that standpoint.
