The Vampire Diaries and Other Stuff
I'm late (as per usual) but I got around to seeing this week's ep.
So... are we being kind and calling this an 'homage' to BtVS Season 4? (Mixed with a bit of AtS crossover because Stefan's drowning is terribly similar to what happened to Angel).
Here we have a professor doing eeeeeevil experiments on the supernatural (that would be Maggie...er... Wes?), who is mentor to an earnest young good guy who interests the heroine (which would be the Riley...er... NuMatt {sorry, can't be bothered to remember the character's name. I'm just wondering what point he serves since TVD already has Matt in the hapless human role}.
Oh, and how can we skip that snarky ambiguous Damon is the EXPERIMENTAL SUBJECT CAPTURED BYTHE INITIATIVE EVIL PROFESSOR!
My this all seems familiar (unintentionally laugh out loud, too, with the trailer where the TVD potential Dr. Mengele is... One Life to Live's Special Needs Victor!!! (OMG, still one of my favorite soap memories ever. Batshit trainwrecks like that must be savored for the treats that they are). Can't wait to see Trevor St. John serve up his special brand of creepy WTF. Hee!)
On other shows...
Enjoyed Doctor Who. No deep thoughts, but I appreciate that Moffat likes to lighten the angst that became so prevalent with 10. So I enjoyed it.
And Boardwalk Empire: After last season's finale I swore never to watch the show again (because 99% of the characters are repugnant). Still, I was incredibly bored last night with both OUAT and Revenge not playing, so I ended up watching the season finale... just in time to see the episode that kills the only character on the entire damn show that I cared anything about.
Literally, my watching the ep went like this:
Oh look, there's ______(1). Hey, isn't that ______(2)...? I wanted wanted those two to get together... Oh, they're together, now. ______(1) is happy. OMG, ______ (1) smiled...
_______ (1) totally going to die then, isn't he.
(5 minutes later) Yep, he's dead.
I'll definitely not be watching next year. RIP only sympathetic character on that show.
