Nov. 9th, 2003 11:09 pmDaily Musing...
You know... maybe I should just have a daily "I hate Mutant Enemy" note at the end of any post about AtS and let that stand for my commentary on the show. It would be more efficient. (Er... this would be both about Ep 11 and Ep 9. Ep 8, too, now that I think about it. Still not feeling like going into detail about the eps without many expletives).
It's Fall. It's College Football
We won 38 to nothing yesterday... though I have to admit that I fell asleep on the sofa early in the 4th quarter and missed the end.
Sunday, lazy Sunday
I didn't accomplish squat today. The most productive thing I did was head over to Home Depot to check out the price of 72" long countertops. We just re-signed our lease at the office and the building owners have to paint and re-carpet our office. Since we lost our last Interior Designer and I was only a thesis course away from a double major in interior design I've been doing a bunch of the interior design work at the office. I've more or less been given the job of figuring out what we're going to do. I have always hated the colors in our office. We've gotten some really horrendous interior designers from time to time (although I've never met the designer in question who did this to our office) but I've always hated, hated, hated the combination of dark red, mauve, and cold, pale gray in our offices. The mauve will be gone. It's paint and I hate it. Howard T. (our actual interior designer who we tend to have doing marketing 99% of the time and hence my doing more and more of the I.D. work) also hates the mauve so I see no problem with getting rid of it. The gray will probably have to stay to some degree because we can't repaint all the flat files or get new cabinets. But I would like to remove all the red countertops out of the drafting room. It can't be taken out of the secretaries offices because new counters would have to be custom built, but in the drafting room, if I can figure out a cheap way to do it I think I can talk my boss into taking off the laminates. I also want to propose removing the red counter in the break room... hence the trip to Home Depot to price replacements. If I want that counter removed I'm probably going to have to figure out a way for us to do it ourselves. The building has only agreed to carpet and re-paint. I ordered carpet tile samples Friday (because the ones Howard ordered turned out to be hideous) so we'll see.
It is fall, right?
At least it's relatively cooler this weekend. I don't remember the air conditioning running much today. That's right. It's November and I've yet to turn off the air conditioning. It's been really freakishly hot lately. We haven't even had a frost... or anything even close to a frost. Not only are my roses still blooming, but the lantana is still in full bloom! Heck, the hybiscus in the planter out front is still in great shape. It's supposed to be November, isn't it?
This is how Buffy has effected me...
Because of its overuse in fanfic, I've become hyperaware of the fact that amost all of the perfumes that I choose are vanilla based... and I sort of don't like that. However, I like the scent of vanilla. It's just...er... Buffy aversion. (Twisted, isn't it?) I usually have the problem of most perfumes giving me headaches (and I don't like overly "sweet" perfumes either). In fact there are very few perfumes which don't. I have gone to Botanicals and had a lavender cologne made with nothing but lavender... but it almost smalls like aftershave (and works better when I use it after I've used vanilla body splash). Basically the only perfumes/colognes I've ever ended up wearing for any length of time (without headaches) are:
Body Shop Vanilla -- which I haven't worn in a while but did wear yesterday and I've discovered that i really no longer like it.
Burberry's of London (which is made in Paris... huh?) It doesn't say that it's vanilla based. It claims to be oriental (whatever that is) and floral with peach, apricot, sandalwood, cedar, amber, and musk. But it has always seemed quite vanilla-like to me.
Oscar De La Renta -- basil, jasmine, lavender, and sandalwood
Carolina Herrera 212 -- which isn't vanilla-like at all and has gardenia, jasmine, and musk
Oh, look, hey I seem to end up with jasmine, lavender, sandalwood and musk as the common factors. Well maybe I'm not as vanilla oriented as I thought (and if you're wondering what brought on this whole weird musing. I was out of cologne -- all of them. 212, Vanilla, Burberry's, and Oscar and so ordered some Burberry's today. For some reason Burberry's amber and musk seems more "winter" to me.
So... I think I've run out of idle, random musings. :)
