Having already admitted that I have been unable to break the whole Days spoilers thing despite the fact that I haven't watched the show in years, it's not a surprise that I cruise spoiler sites. Can I say that Days boards presents one with a depressing view of humanity?
I can? Good.
It's really amazing (though certainly not surprising) that many current Days fans are complete morons! I'm specifically referring to the people saying how "great" this lame story is, how complicated and wonderful and BRILLIANT Reilly is! Diedre Hall is just so awesome and should get an emmy (bwhahahaha! Right!). And Drake Hogestyn is a great actor (*snort* That's too pathetic even to laugh about. I mean, it's not like Friend's "Joey" hasn't been out and out mocking Drake Hogestyn for years now --great Drake impersonation by Matt LeBlanc)
Er... yeah. And what color is the sky in their corner of the planet, I wonder.
Now, to be fair, I have refrained from making any snarky comments to the ludicrous statements on that board. But... well... as anyone reading this will know, I do get snarky at times. What provoked it this time?
Apparently I'm the center of a kerfuffle on Soap Opera Network because I pointed out to some dimwit that Machiavellian doesn't mean what he thinks it means. After reading their discussion of the "obscure" reference in the spoiler about the Machiavellian plot, how the "exotic" Machiavelli reference is a CLUE and finally the triumphant announcement by one poster that Machiavelli is most famous for faking his own death....
Okay, should have kept my mouth shut, but PLEASE! Come on!!! Machiavelli is not an obscure reference! Nor is it a referencing faking death. Nor is Machiavelli "most famous" for "faking deaths." It's a common word that Soap Opera Digest used not because it was a subtle clue to anything but because it's an appropriate description of the machinations of a production company of firing a bunch of people in a cheap bid for publicity and ratings (though if I had stated it that way, I would have had to explain what in the hell machinations were too!)
Guh! Please tell me that most reasonably intelligent people know what in the hell Machiavellian is. Honestly, pages of people speculating about this exotic clue about fake deaths just had me rolling my eyes. Until, I admit, I found myself responding that this isn't some obscure reference. Pull out a dictionary, why don't you.
I kept thinking, don't put your stupidity on display!
I'm being arrogant, aren't I? Oh, hell, I'll be arrogant.
What has the American eductional system sunk to?
