I pretty much started the day late (and with horrendous luck). I went to "Lighting and Lamp" only to discover that they closed 20 minutes before I arrived (serves me right for having hung out in my flannel PJs all morning. I had intended to buy Mom's Christmas present there, but I won't have a chance to go that far on that side of town again until Thursday and by then if I'm shopping, I'll be shopping with Mom (who always waits until the last minute to shop). Since I was way over on that end of town, I thought I'd stop by the ICI paint store (since it's the only ICI dealer in town) to see if I could get the paint sample Mom wants (I've tried to pull the sample at the office, but our interior designer must have used it in some presentation because it's not in the box). Unfortunately, the paint store was also closed. Thank God, Starbucks is just about always open. I did manage to get my co-worker's Secret Santa gift (yay, Starbucks and innocuous gifts of thermoses, coffee, cookies and hot chocolate). Then I drove way over to the other end of town so as to take final measurements and buy those chairs that I posted for my mother... only to find that the damn things have been sold. Did get the information on them, so they can re-order the chairs (which is fine because when ordering you can select the fabric and while Mom and I liked the chair fabric, neither of us were overly thrilled with the fabric of the throw pillow which came with them. By ordering, we can get a different fabric for the pillow).

Sigh. So at that point in the afternoon, I was discouraged. Called my sister (for a computer cable that we then both ended up forgetting) and she, my neice, and I hit the mall. It was something of a madhouse. I told her which cordial glasses Mom had said she wanted (and my sister then picked entirely different ones to give her). Hung out with my neice as she looked at watches and jewelry boxes (then I sneaked back later and bought one of the jewelry boxes to give her). Then I bought a lamp for mom at one of the stores in the mall (since I couldn't make it to lighting and lamp.

So, just when I was all happy about having finished my Christmas shopping, my sister asked what I was giving my parents for their fiftieth wedding anniversary (they were married on Christmas day) so... sigh... now, I have to find one more gift.

Oh well, then I came home and took a hot shower.

Merry Christmas.
