Last night's FNL had an uptick of about a million viewers, making its numbers last night higher than the season premiere.  Yippee!

First:  critical praise (italics are my comments)

Quote:  Landry Clarke at a strip club? Absolute comic genius. [Or as Tyra termed it "Women with Low Self Esteem Palace"]  The writers and Jesse Plemons have done such a wonderful job of establishing the ABC's of Landry that I started laughing at the very idea of him going there, well before he actually wound up in the dressing room. (Nice garnish: that one stripper nodded enthusiastically at Landry's speech about how they work hard for their money, so you better tip them right.)[My personal favorite was his instructing Matt "You look them in the eye, not the rack."  Hee!]

...
The Taylors have one of the most realistic, honest and entertaining marriages on TV.  [Another hee for the Taylors with Coach asking to speak not with his wife but the school counselor.  When she didn't give the answer he wanted, he asked to speak to his wife.  When he still didn't get the answer he wanted, he asked "Is there anyone else I can talk to?"  She said, his "friend" ... and continued telling him what he didn't want to hear.   Great capper came his saying that he found all three of her to be scary. Hah!)

And a little (mild) criticism.

Quote: It was like the show went to a place that was really complicated and scary, and someone -- either the writers or NBC -- decided it was a little too scary to stay very long,
