Wonder what brought this up.  They've been doing the play at the museum for well over a decade.

Alabama Town Uses "Mockingbird" to learn from past

Strange to read names that I know.  Lett is a common name in town (one of my high school history teachers was Mrs. Lett, though I have no clue whether she was any relation to the man mentioned in the article), and the Tuckers are a fairly prominent family.  Mrs. Tucker was one of the teachers in my school and Mr. Tucker was the Junior High Principal when I was in school. His daughter Cynthia is currently a columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  The schools were integrated before I was even born, but the middle school I attended had, once upon a time, been the 'black' elementary school.  The elementary school in the book was fairly clearly the elementary school I attended as the original part of the school (which still existed when I was in elementary school, but was demolished many years ago) had the big gnarled tree from the book, and was quite close to Truman Capote's and the Lee's old house (all of which has been demolished in the years since).
