*   Did my taxes this weekend.  H&R Block's current software is confusing and sucks. And now my state taxes are frelled in ways I don't understand and can't seem to correct without paying H&R block MORE... and yet the alternative is to give up $100 return.  Their website SUCKS.

*  The weather this weekend was GORGEOUS!  Sunny and 80... so basically perfect.  I bought three shrubs (2 ligustrum and 1 varigated pititosporum) to hide the air conditioner and the electrical meter.  The purple azaleas are finally beginning to bloom.   The roses are full of buds (and the Don Juan has already begun to bloom).  Found a new glazed planter for my basil (too early to plant that but I wanted a new planter for it).  And I've managed no air or heat for a couple of weeks now, so my electrical bill should be happy.

*  Replaced the bedroom ceiling fan that wore out a couple of weeks ago (I replaced with a new fan that looked exactly like the old one).

*  Made 'buttermilk grits pie' this weekend, which sounds awful and bizarre... but was in fact quite good.  I had never heard of such a thing but saw that it had high marks on Food Network (5 stars).  It's actually rather like a dense, not overly sweet custard (though I didn't use all the sugar it called for and actually substituted some of what I did use with honey.  I also used a vanilla bean.  I think when I make it next time, I'll also add some lemon zest) .   was quite good with fresh strawberries (that had been covered with a bit of sugar, white balsamic vinegar, and a dash of black pepper. That actually works quite well).

*  Saw there was BtVS Comic Season 9 news, all I can think about is what can they screw up and how badly.

*  Watched this week's Mildred Pierce, if I were Veda's mom, I'd be arrested for child abuse because that kid is vile.
