Hah!

I just happened to run across ESPN doing a history of the SEC Championship Game documentary, and they were showing the inaugural game.   So, they're showing the crowd and the cheerleaders 'at the game' wearing short sleeves and t-shirts.

Okay, I was at that game.  Want to know my most clear memory of it?  It wasn't our winning.  It was that IT WAS THE COLDEST GAME EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!  Twenty years later, I still remember how cold it was.  I remember what boots I was wearing, because my feet were frozen.  I remember that we were sitting in the endzone... where we were freezing our asses off.  I remember that it was 5 degrees and windy!

It. was. cold.

... so I'm thinking they were using crowd shots from some other game. :D

(And yeah, I realize how bizarre it is that I remember a football game from twenty years ago.)

I'm reposting because, though there's no way for me to know the cause, my kitty has also been behaving very strangely.  She's been weak, lethargic, and refusing to eat much. She also twitched when I touched her as though there was some strange nerve thing going on. Plus, she was crying in distress for no apparent reason.

I also feed her 'Fancy Feast' (a Purina product) as a wet supplement to her (more expensive) dry food (Innova.  A holistic brand.  Chosen for high protein content and because it's highest caloric content that I could I find.  My kitty is a skinny, skinny cat.  I want as much caloric bang for what she eats as I can get.  Meanwhile, I figure high protein is better if there's any chance she might have aging symptoms of diabetes.  So... that's how I wound up with that dry food.)

The last can of 'Fancy Feast' that I fed her, she absolutely refused to eat... and she's been being better the last couple of days.

I read this (reposted post) last night and threw out the final can  "Fancy Feast" unused.  (She has been refusing to eat it anyway.)

Now I'm trying other wet food (I like her to have some wet for digestive purposes.)

Last night I bought a can of 'Blue'  (and also bought a can of Instinct and Soulistic.   I'll see which she prefers.  It's like begging a picky child to eat.) She ate 'Blue' last night -- and actually ate it -- and she is behaving normally (and much better) tody.   So I'm reposting this with curiosity as to whether Fancy Feast may have been part of her distress this week.  I do not know.

( Also my mother's cat who also eats Fancy Feast (her food bought at the same time as my cat's) has also had problems this week.  My mother had to take her cat to the vet.)

At any rate, I don't know the cause and effect, but it's perhaps worth reposting.  So...

My coworker John told me that his cat was seriously ill--throwing up, lethargic, refusing food, dropping weight. The previously healthy 6-year-old, 15-pound cat had lost a third of her body weight over the last few months. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. Blood tests were clean, and she didn't have any known illnesses. Yet she was a few days from organ failure.

That was a week ago. She's fine now. The solution was... to stop feeding her Purina cat food.

Going to the National Championship Game! (Well not personally. Those tickets cost a lot so it's doubtful that I'll go.) But the Tide.

Rematch w/ LSU!
