*  Okay, I think there's going to be a problem as they try to sell that Connie Britton's character is SOOOOO much more talented than Hayden P's, because on the face of it, Britton's voice is NOT better.  In fact... it might be a shade worse than her rival's.

The set up is that H.P. character is an autotuned poseur.  So... what exactly does that say about the "legendary" Rayna?  Get thee some autotune?

*  Secondly, while I loved FNL's Tami with great big whopping love.  I do NOT feel the same about Nashville's Rayna.  They've actually gone further in balancing H.P.'s 'bad girl' than they have with Briton's Rayna.

Rayna dated Deacon for 10 years... but married Teddy(?) immediately after Deacon went to rehab... and she may have been pregnant with Deacon's baby when she did so and has told neither guy.  Meanwhlie she's kept Deacon in her band in the 10 years since.  If both guys are chaffing at this... well... yeah.

She's also rich as hell, but resentful of Daddy's money... even though he may or may not have bought her way into the recording career.  He's an ass so I understand her breaking free (He's Deadwood's Ty after all) but she's starting with a lot of moneyed privilege before we even get to the voice issues mentioned above.

*  We've also been told that she turned down a bunch of 'hit' songs because she didn't like them, but now her CDs aren't selling so she wants one tout suite.  Meanwhile, career-wise what we've seen her do is complain about everyone (except Deacon) who is there to help her.  Not just the record lable suits, but her producer, the sound mixing guy, the guy working her stage production, and her tossing equipment around.  So is C.B.'s character supposed to be likable?  If so, they need to slide in a few more likable moments as balance.   Right now she seems to have a quite high opinion of herself that may or may not be justified.

And they need to give her better songs.

If they're trying to sell her as being vastly superior to H.P,'s faux Taylor Swift +/- LeAnn Rimes  character, she needs something that actually makes her sound better.   Because right now... not so much.

On other fronts, don't get me started on the little blonde who didn't want to take her shot at a recording contract because it might upset her boyfriend.  Ugh.  I have affection for Lucky Spencer because I remember this kid/actor from when he was 10, but it doesn't extend to thinking that mindset was 'okay'.  Yeah, we were supposed to be against her feeling that way but still.  Ugh.
