GOT Casting Clarification
So they've come out and announced who it is that Mark Gatiss is playing.
A bit of a surprise in that it's a character from Book 5 ( A Dance with Dragons) Tycho Nestoris... aka the guy from the Iron Bank of Braavos. (I had no memory of the character's name. He was always 'the Iron Bank guy' to me. But I felt in Book 5 that the Iron Bank was about to become an important cog in the interplay... even if I couldn't remember the guy's name).
I could see how that would work in that it would give a chance for him to interact with the residents of King's Landing, setting groundwork for his role in Book 5 (and probably rolling him into the other rep from the Iron Bank of Braavos that's mentioned in...er... Feast for Crows? (I forget).
{BTW - I've been reading The Plantagenets by Dan Jones recently, and you can definitely see how GRRMartin has drawn inspiration from the generations of turmoil and in-fighting during the latter generations of Plantagenets (though it's in no way a direct retelling. It may be 'inspired by' a little but it's no blueprint. Though I was amused by how in one incident, it appears that Martin took a polar opposite resolution to a set-up than the one that took place. Anyway, I'm curious whether the Iron Bank in the yet to be produced books will look anything like some of the events that began to play out with one of the Henry's (not Tudor).
