A quickie because it's lunch break (and a grouchy because my broadband was acting up last night and I also did not sleep well).:

*     Re: My sister.  Her attacker has been arrested and the school's lawyers brought in regarding the rest.  Unfortunately, she was feeling badly yesterday morning and that increased into real pain before noon.  She went to the doctor and it turned out that being slammed into the wall caused some lung trauma and a couple of broken ribs that have resulted in pneumonia.  She's now off and resting comfortably at home (they gave her morphine because she's allergic to codine, so she's mostly loopy and unconscious.)  I hope this bastard is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

*     Re: Kitchen Reno.  Have been on a quest for grout.  When I bought the tile I had tried to compare grout colors with the sample which looked to be Custom Building Products: Buttercream.  But when I mixed some it was YELLOW (it dried to an offwhite after 24 hours though).  So after finding few options in Custom Building Products, I swapped over to Marpei: Biscuit.  BUt that dried bright white!  Lowe's didn't carry anything more subtle so pulling a grout sample chart I selected one that closely matched my paint, and went back to Jenkin's Brick (where I had bought my tile) and got "Alabaster" and began grouting the tile.  Then, this morning when I went into the kitchen it looked gray!  And it made the tile look gray.  And... I didn't like it at all.  (And had been unable to sleep most of the night because... I dunno, but sleep deprivation amplified my reaction, and I didn't like it at all!)  On the phone this morning, I begged Mom to go to Jenkins and pull the original sample of tile to once again try to match the grout color.  She dropped by my office with it... and it matches Buttercream!  UGHHHH!!!!   So, yeah, now there's scrubbing out the grout in the area that has been grouted and take one more go using the original grout that I bought!    Again.  Ugh!!    Why is grout and mortar always so damn difficult?!

*    Re: TV: Being Human continues to be awesome   Things are going to a bad place, though.  You can see both Mitchell and George heading into very bad territory and seemingly unable to stop themselves.  Mitchell is right about George (funny, since he is so wrong about himself).  George is not only rebounding, he seems to have learned all the wrong lessons from Nina.  How he can think of dragging a single mother into his situation is mindboggling.  Especially with what it cost Nina.  And yet, it's very human of him to react this way and to long for the things he longs for.  (But seriously, George, you don't think it might be a bit of a problem for Annie to live with people WHO CAN'T SEE HER and who don't know that she exists?  That would be just straight-up cruel to Annie)   This will not work out well.  And Mitchell!  Oh good lord, Mitchel he's already slid halfway down the slippery slope.  First he justified covering up his friends murder of his lover.  Then he justified allowing what's-his-name to continue killing 'in secret' for the sake of the greater good.  Then he has justified to himself the need to kill because some need killing.  This is bad.  This is very bad.  This will turn out badly for Mitchell. And Lyndsey/Lucy (I need to learn her name) is winning me over with her own conflict of knowing Mitchell probably should be killed and not bringing herself to do it (yet).  I think she's in water that will sink her as well, but I like that she isn't two-dimensional in this.  All in all, this is great genre writing! :

*    Re: TV: Lost For a Kate episode, I have to admit that I rather liked it (which usually isn't the case with Kate).  I was somewhat surprised to see on EW that some fans thought it was filler.  It sure didn't look like filler to me.  I mean we got whatever we got with Sayid.  The whole 'infection' thing goes back to Rousseau.  So I'm interested in what that means.  More than that, though, what I liked was what all of this has done to Jack (I know! [/monica gellar]) Jack has tried to be 'hero' and 'fixer' for so long.  And, more often than not, this has not turned out well.  Poor Jack (I know![/monica gellar]) is right on up there with Angel in that no matter how he tries to 'fix' things, more often than not it just doesn't work out, at least not for him and not as planned.  Sayid must've been crazy (or suicidal, which given where he was last season, he basically is) to leave the decision up to Jack.  I felt for Jack there.  He's so screwed that I felt somewhat certain that whatever decision he made would be the wrong one... and then he went and swallowed the pill himself!  It was heimliched out of him pretty fast, but he seemed rather sweaty and pained in the end, so did he actually ingest any of the poison?  And now I have to worry about both him AND Sayid.  Then there's Sawyer, who at this point seems fairly suicidal himself.  I'm glad they've had Sawyer adequately mourn Juliet.  She deserved that.  I also liked that Kate's ping-ponging doesn't work any more.  Sawyer isn't all about Kate now. In fact, for the moment, though affection remains, he's none about Kate.  And given the previews, now I worry about Sawyer!!   And then there's Kate sideways flash.  I'm not all that interested in the Kateness of it, and sideways Claire was bananas to jump back into the taxi with Kate, but I totally loved the 'fate'-ness of it all in that Aaron's birth yet again brings together the exact same folks... including Ethan!  It's like some connections simply have to be made.  And this has me very curious about the rest of the season.  I also picked up with Kate's escape from the Temple-Others, that a lot of her ping-ponging between Jack/Sawyer makes sense in that Kate is always  running away.  This is why when she is with Jack she seems to want Sawyer and when she is with Sawyer, she seems to want Jack.  And yet, sideways Kate has only had glancing connection with either in the sideways-verse.  She crossed paths with Sawyer.  She saw Jack from a distance.  But she found herself right back with Claire and with Aaron (kinda).  I'm beginning to think that Kate's 'redemption' whatever it may be, has nothing to do with shipping her with anyone and with her being true/fulfilling a promise/need of Aaron's (and possibly Claire's).    And yay! Jin for searching for Sun.  I want my Jin/Sun reunion, people!
