The Middle

Dude, what happened to Sue?  Totally and completely happened to me in the sixth grade (well, except for the blackmail part.) :pets Sue:

Modern Family
Love Phil.  Love Luke.  Enjoyed poor drugged middle child.

Revenge
I'm rather enjoying this show.

*  Revealing what Emily/Amanda did to her shrink -- hooboy, yeah, Emily/Amanda has issues.

* LOL'd at the big ol' copy of The Count of Monte Cristo in the shrink's office.  Someone might want to clue her in that she's now in the story.

* So Victoria did what she did to little Amanda because Little Amanda saw her swipe the computer, right?

* Pure speculation and thus not a spoiler, but Charlotte is going to turn out to be Emily/Amanda's half-sister, isn't she?

*  Tyler... hmm.  What's his deal?  Is he just a stuck up bastard with the talk of  his family?  Is that for real?  And he was stone sober when he did what he did, so...  Someone on TWOP postulated that he had an Talented Mr. Ripley  vibe, and he sort of did.  I like that he has an agenda but it's unclear exactly what it is.  Everyone on this show seems to have an agenda.

* Which brings me to Nolan... who may just develop into my favorite character on the show.  What is his deal?  I've gotten the vibe that his persona in public is every bit as much a fiction as Emily/Amanda's.  He wears all those cliched preppy outfits in pastels and is socially awkward in public (in a very obvious way), but in the flashback in Ep 1, that was not the way he was dressed when he met E-Amanda...and he was already obscenely wealthy at that point so it's not just that he turned nouveau riche.  Also, it's still not the way he's dressed when he's home alone.  And  his home is sleek, modern, and minimalist... which again is not the rather Rococo persona he presents in public.  He clearly gets off on Emily/Amanda's revenge schemes and always manages to enmesh himself in them (in totally uninvited but helpful ways)... and yet there are these contradictions where I can't help but notice that with all his pretenses, he simply must have an agenda of his own.   What is it?   We only have his word on what he's about, but obviously he isn't revealing much about himself.  Which brings me to the question of what's his deal with Jack?  Why the matchmaking of Emily/Amanda and Jack?  On the one hand, is Nolan trying to save Emily/Amanda's soul so that she's not a complete, unrepentant sociopath?....  Or, well, I'm not wrong in thinking that he's shit-stirring. He's deliberately leading Jack to think that Emily/Amanda is thinking/feeling something she isn't (come on, the shrink tape?  1) Emily/Amanda always lies.  2) She knew she was being taped, so she was knowingly lying right then.  3) Since she knew she was being taped and knew the tape was going to be played for Victoria -- because Emily/Amanda was planning to be the one to play it -- she was clearly lying about Daniel, because that's her game.  And Nolan is smart enough and on the ball enough to know all of that... so why is he misleading Jack?

And, you know, given the twisted dynamics of Emily/Amanda and Nolan... I could see myself slipping up and shipping those two.  I think deep down they're two lying peas in a pod.

Nolan intrigues me.  He's up to something.
