Weekend TV
May. 11th, 2015 01:18 pmOutlander was boring. A whole lot of horseback riding through beautiful vistas and bad singing but not much happening.
Once Season Finale. The show is at its most enjoyable when it's crack fic and this week it was officially crack fic as Rumplestilskin got them all written into his fantasy AU backwardsverse where he is (literally) a knight in shining armor, Snow is the evil queen, Capt. Hook is a cowardly deck hand, and Regina is the martyred hero. Henry (and Emma) have to bring them all back to themselves again... Though I note that some things never change. Hooks eyes still light up when he first lays eyes on Emma, Charming still goes wherever Snow leads, Belle is still a blind idiot where Rumple is concerned, an Rumple remains cowardly and selfish even when he's Marty Stu.
Did enjoy Hooks transformation not from villain but from inept coward to hero (it being Rumples happy ending of course Hook is cowardly and inept). But moving that he'd die for Emma and Henry). And moving that Regina would die for Henry as well).
Meanwhile, why exactly does Rumple deserve to be saved? Even his AU heroic self was so selfish he'd sacrifice an innocent for his own happy ending.
And now they have to search for Merlin to release Emma from the Dark Curse. Is she going to Camelot? Is she going to be Morganna? And do we think she's going to be saved by True Loves kiss? (I do like that they've now earned an Emma/Hook True Live Kiss. I liked how last year it wasn't that. Now? It totally would be. She finally admitted she loves him. They've also left Regina and Hood to still deal with Selena's baby. And are Snow and Charming going to remember they have another kid? Was that where Henry was during the climax? Babysitting his uncle?
Game of Thrones
Grey Worm lives!!
And poor Jorah now has Jon Connington's plot. I feared this when I realized in the previews that it is Jorah with Tyrion in The Sorrows. Oh well, I've long thought Jorah would die heroically at the end (I also think that Jaime, Cersei, Theon, And possibly Dany die before the end). Since Jon's plot was just beginning in Dance, I don't think this spells Jorah's immediate end.
I also though Sophie hit the notes perfectly in the Sansa crosses paths with Theon stuff. It's a bunch of things which hit her. He's someone she KNOWS. She hates him for what he did and what she thinks he did. She is disgusted... And yet there's a hint of pity as well. And I thought the reason Theon couldn't meet her eyes wasn't just fear of Ramsey or shame of Reek. I think Theon is ashamed of his actions as Theon.
Glad Brienne is close by because, Sansa, you're in danger, girl.
And Maester Aemon discussing Dany being alone without Targaryens while Jon waits to see him... Jon is totally R+L
And back to Sansa, did they say she was the last Stark or the last of her family? Because I couldn't help thinking, wait, she doesn't think Jon is dead!
Mad Men
Peter and Trudy reunite! Boy I hope that works out because everything else is depressing. Betty is dying of cancer (so you know Sally isn't going to Spain. Her brothers (and Henry) need her. And, as usual, Don is yet MIA). And Don continues divesting himself of everything.
