LOTR music makes everything more intense
Apr. 18th, 2007 10:10 pmHee. I find the use of that LOTR music in the LOST trailer to be completely distracting (as distracting as when shows use the BtVS "Chosen" music which I also instantly pick up on and associate with something too specific to bleed over into whatever show they're promoting.)
The thing about the LOTR music in the LOST promo is that it's not even LOTR that I primarily associate with the music. (I mean, I do associate LOTR with it, so that association isn't totally lost, just mostly lost at this point. ) It's just that for the last several years this is the music used in the "Tradition" montage played before every home football game:
So, when I hear that music, I'm really expecting to see Tyrone Prothro (Poor Prothro) nearly break his neck catching the ball! It's ingrained at this point. I can't help it. (Said catch is the last play in the montage, and it's not the play where he was injured. That one they [rightfully] don't include in the montage. [Damn, he was talented. Too darn bad he'll almost certainly never recover enough to play another game.] Also, Shaun Alexander was amazing long before he made it to the pros. And, no, no one ever has any idea what in the hell Bear Bryant was saying in any of these clips.
