I'm not counting on it. I really like the way nothing makes sense, though, because I actually think the writers know the answers and we will eventually get them.

Hmmm... I might have to give the show another try then. I quit during the first part of Season Two, because it seemed pretty obvious they really had no idea what they were doing (heck... The Fury, himself, stated outright that they writers had no idea what was really going on)

I think that when they nailed down a solid end date that they then had the opportunity to figure out where they were going and what they were doing. They now know that they have exactly 48, 47, 46 episodes left to air. So I do think that with that being the case, they've nailed down some things that they had previously had up in the air. And I think it's making for a stronger show. And it's allowing them to deviate from the flashback stories (which have mostly run their course) in favor of flash fowards where now instead of trying to piece together how they ended up on the flight that landed them on the island, we're left wandering what happens between now and when at least 6 of them are rescued from the island (as we know from flashfowards that at least 6 are, though we only know three of the 6). And that still leaves them one last act as they've also made clear that the six who leave have to return to the island because "they" are still on the island and (possibly?) need help. Oh, and thus far 2 of the 6 have come to believe that leaving the island was a huge mistake.

..So they've added some whole new WTF?! scenarios.

And tonight's WTF was the WTFiest they've had in quite some time. I'm actually tempted to rewatch.

Oh, now I'm gonna have to watch it again myself, since I don't remember the first two minutes. I'm sure that since they have an end date in sight, there's no more meandering - everything has a purpose, and it's making it very tense; nice, tight storytelling. (I'm always glad I stuck it out with this show!)

I hate Fury. I think he just says whatever he thinks will piss people off the most. And given that the writers are working toward a set end-date, I really do think - from things the sane ones have said - that even though there are details they work out as they write, they have the big arcs set and will make sense of everything in the end.

Ah, yes - but remember, the last time they got a clear line through to the outside world and said, "We're the survivors of Oceanic flight 815," the answer came back through the static, "But we've found Oceanic 815! There were no survivors!"

I guess that's what was found...
