Okay, thus far a seriously WTF episode (but Desmond and Sayid are hot).

ETA: Okay, I think that was a good episode. Freaky, but good. Other than the Kate episode (which was just okay) this season LOST has been quite good so far.

And throughout this episode the X-Phile in me kept thinking of the XF ep "Amor Fati" and the quote: I chose another path, another life, another fate {...} There was one thing that remained the same. You were my friend, and you told me the truth. Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant. My touchstone.

Well, all Desmond episodes are WTF episodes.

Heh. True. I wonder if it's time anomolies or parallel universes though.

These time anomalies are quite interesting, I must say.

Please, saying that Sayid and Desmond are hot is like saying the sun is hot. *g*

But I'm loving the WFTness of this episode.

Time paradox!

No episode can have too much Des.

Whee! I loves me time anomolies and time travel. It's my fanfic kink. And I think I actually misted up when Penny and Desmond spoke to each other. Awwwwwwww. And a Charlie mention as well. Good ep.!

Hee! True. But I was operating on the assumption that it can never be repeated often enough. Now, here's hoping for some shirtless Jin action in the near future.

Ah Des. The hair. The accent. The starcrossed love story. Yippee!

I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried when Des and Penny were talking.

I got all misty too. Misty with a huge grin on my face that they got to speak to each other. (Yes, I'm die-hard romantic beneath all my cynicism.)

When faced with the Hot!Scot and his One!Tru!Luv who can be a cynic?

I am so glad that they've got a firm end-of-series date. If that hadn't happened, I strongly suspect it would have gone the route of the X-FIles, piling up mystery upon contradictory mystery until the whole thing collapsed of its own weight.

The thing that make me go WTF is the fact that OK, if you go into the future too often, you die, but if you die, then you have no future to go to in the first place. WTF?

But didn't the guy who died, die in the present not the past? That seems feasible (in a totally suspend your disbelief and don't think about it too much way. Heh.)

Oh, I think the firm end date will help their pacing tremendously. Although I also still suspect that there will always be things that aren't explained and that it won't be nearly as deep or complex as online speculation... because nothing ever is. Still, LOST usally makes a great amusement park ride of a show and that's all I really ask of it. I've had XF and BtVS before it. Speculation is always better than the answers. It's the ride that's important.

I misted up too when Des succeeded in talking to Penny. And Sayid was so much with the quiet support and understanding.

Can Sayid really be evil? I can't believe it. But how to reconcile him working for that creepy Ben? We did learn last week that he's working for creepy Ben, didn't we?

Or am I muddled?

You're right. We learned that he's being (at least I took it this way) forced to work for Ben in the present/future. But I didn't take that as Sayid being "evil." Ben implied that he was using the safety of those 'left behind [on the island]' to extort Sayid into being his assassin. And I'm guessing that the people that Sayid is killing aren't "the good guys" but black hats themselves, most likely some part of the Hanso corporation... or at least with Penny's evil dad in some way. Just a guess, but I think that's the direction that it is going. I tend to think that Sayid falls into gray hat with 'heart in the right place' category.

Oh, good. That's just how I like 'em best.

During last week's show I was running in and out of the room while it was on, and only saw enough to alarm me. I hadn't caught the impression that Sayid was working for Ben under duress. And I'd remembered Ben saying at one point that he had a spy among the original survivors...I think. So when I put those two things together I was 'Oh NO - NOT Sayid!'

Thanks for the reassurance. Now I can return to my regularly scheduled love and adoration of Sayid.

Ben said that he had a spy on the ship. This was backed up this week when someone unlocked the door so that Sayid and Desmond could get out. My money is on the long-missing Michael since that actor was supposed to show up this season at some point.

But, fear not. Sayid remains in the camp of the "characters we root for". The revelation that he 'worked' for Ben was more to evoke sympathy because he's been forced to do these things because of other people who need his help.
