So, I'm back from the beach. Nice weather, all things considered. The storm that hit so it didn't matter much. Most of the weekend/this week was more sunny than not, and reasonably warm. I blistered red as a lobster, so clearly the sun was out. The Gulf was rough. Really rough. Must be from the storms in Texas. I don't think I've ever seen the surf quite so rough in San Destin, but as the water was too cold to swim, that was no biggie. Especially since there was this swarm of blue -- they were freaking blue! -- jelly fish all over the beach.

Beach book: Finally finished Stephen King's Duma Key It reminded me of Blair Witch Project in a way. Not in plot or character, just in the sensation that while reading it, it didn't seem all that scary or unnerving, and yet since finishing it, the creepiness has lingered with me. Plot-wise, there's nothing remotely Blair Witch about it. It's basically a construction contractor is in a terrible accident that costs him his arm and causes a severe brain injury. After divorcing his wife, who couldn't handle his injuries or the violent anger that results from those kinds of head injuries, he relocates to Duma Key on the Gulf Coast of Florida (this is pretty much where the novel begins). He then decides to get his angst out through art. Needless to say, creepy things begin to happen. It didn't seem remotely scary while reading it, and yet thinking about it later seems quite creepy. How King churns out stories so quickly, beats the hell out of me. It could have used plot-tightening but was generally enjoyable.

And now, Lost is on. So I guess I'll compound the creepy with a Thursday night dose of LOST.
