I finally got around to renting the movie Stardust last night and, overall, I thought the movie suffered from the same problems as the book (too much wandering around, too many eccentricities that don't add up, characters having too many motivations, etc. It always seemed as though the story needed streamlining). Anyway, the most amusing part of the movie was Robert De Niro's "whoopsie" pirate (He likes to cross dress and when his crew finds him in ladies' undies one of them happily announces, "It's all right, Cap'n, we always knew you was a whoopsie.") Anyway, at the end of the movie, at the 'happy-ever-after' part, De Niro's pirate flirts with Victoria Forrester's new fiance... who flirts back... which caused me to laugh and think, "Look! Slash in canon!"
Heh. Fandom has a way of tinting our views of everything.
