Meandering Musings

For this show in particular, I can undestand why they skip that specific amount of time. This isn't a huge jump that shows like One Tree Hill and Desperate Housewives is doing, they're simply going from one football season to the next football season. Since the team is part of the core dynamic of the show, it makes sense to continue keeping it to football season (plus perhaps a few weeks preceding it which would include practice), which means it's perennially stuck as late summer through early winter. To lose the football practice/football games part of the series would make it lose one of its essential elements.
