We beat Tennessee -- woohoo! It's always awesome to beat Tennessee (not that there's a fierce rivalry or anything (heh). Just saving the world from annoying renditions of Rocky Top. :)
Really enjoyed the season finale of Mad Men last night. I didn't particularly enjoy reading all of the reactions on TWOP because I swear there are people who receive entirely different versions of shows on their tvs than the version that I receive. The one that I received was both subtle and awesome. VK in particular did a bang up job in the episode.
And, finally, I've said in the past that I would try to avoid posting politics in my journal, but... well, there's only a week left. That's not too long of a time to have to deal with political discussion so, in all probability, I will make a few political posts this week. I always try to be respectful to both sides, but I do have definite opinions.

Such an amazing show. I can't wait for next year.

Date: 2008-10-27 08:01 pm (UTC)I think the most shocking thing to me this season was to see how much Don has changed since his engagement and how much he's changed Betty as a result of the walls he's built to hide his secrets. So Don cheats because he feels disconnected? Does this mean his womanizing days are over? Will he tell Betty about his past? I think Betty may be too far gone to trust Don again.
I loved watching Peggy and Pete. She's always been about 3 steps ahead of him emotionally and that scene where she hit him with a clue stick was priceless. Pete is an ass but VK still makes him compelling.
WE ARE PENN STATE!!!
I was a bit sad that Joan's story didn't get more time. I'm hoping that Don may give her a hand into a different career as he did with Peggy especially if there will be further emphasis on TV. I also wonder if that wedding will ever take place. I find Joan rather tragic and her personality appeals to me a bit more than Peggy's.

Date: 2008-10-28 05:13 am (UTC)Well, that's the episode I saw too, so I don't know what's up with the TWOP people (outside of their usual rampant contrariness). Kartheiser was excellent, but Elisabeth Moss also knocked it out of the park - there's a reason she's the top-billed actress on this show. That final scene between Peggy and Pete was devastating, and so, so sad for both of them. I have no idea how this storyline will play out next year, but I'm dying to find out.
And while Don's best episode was really last week's, Hamm was great here, too. We really saw Draper's various personas in this one: the cool, in-control ad exec, the totally lost and floundering man, the disconnected father and husband. These personas don't integrate at all, and Draper is going to pay the price for it somehow. The whole thing is fascinating. This was a great season, and I hope next season is as good (and please don't let them take up the story in 1966 or something - I want it to start where they left off this year).
