Yesterday I had an odd little moment.   I'm still writing on fanfic (I'm beyond slow and it's shameful how little progress I make.  But, I do try).  Anyway, while in the drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A, I had the idea for how to correct a line I have been agonizing over.  Searching the car, I found a small discarded notebook shoved into one of the pockets behind the drivers seat and found a pen to jot down my thought.  When I opened the notebook, I found it filled with the early ruminations for the plot of "Arriving Somewhere Not Here."  It's weird seeing it  over a year later.

Then, I found a scene that I had absolutely no memory of having written!  It was a little Lindsey scene with info that -- strange because I wrote the scene -- I had no knowledge of.  I mean it was filled with detail like what church his parents attended!  Actually, I rather like the scene and will happily use it (If I ever reach that point in the story) .   It's just really weird to find a scene that I had written and that I had totally forgotten.  It was like reading someone else's work.

What a cool thing to happen!

I have the reverse of that usually - there was a fic I plotted out on holiday once, a really involved alternate season for A5 with plots for everyone including Faith and Buffy along with the rest of the cast, plus all this elegant foreshadowing. I doubt I'd ever have written it, but I have no idea where the scraps of paper I wrote it down on are. I can't remember exactly what happened and I really want to know!

I did that yesterday too! I re-read an old fic of mine (I don't write much, BTW), a Spike/Angel piece that I wrote years ago and I wrote it like an episode of Angel. I was shocked. Not to stroke my ego, LOL, but it was funny and good and very "Joss". I was surprised that I wrote all that. I mean, I remembered the piece but I didn't know I put that much detail and humor in it. And it kind of encouraged me a bit as if to say, "See, you can do this again if you want..."

Don't you realize that this means that you have been secretly visited by Future! You, who was able to cleverly avoid being seen by anyone, but inserted information into your life that will be necessary to saving the world?

Sorry, I'm weird...and sheepish...
