shipperx: (Sayid - Survivor)
[personal profile] shipperx
Intro and ... WTF? (And cheesy shark fx, LOL!)

* Heh! I love when Jack's plans go horrendously wrong. This, in every way, it not what he planned.

* Er... okay, now WTF. Jack is in two places at once? No, turns out they all are in two places at once. So... now I'm totally confused. It changed time and didn't.... at the same time? Huh? (Or is Oceanic still going to crash)

* Isn't that Art who got blown-up real good with dynamite?

* Oh hi! Vampire Damon. Wait. No. What was your Lost name? You died a really long time ago.

* Smokemonster is bad ass... and sounds like a swarm of locusts. And NuLocke is smokemonster.

* Juliet is going to die. Damnit! *sob* (Jack's plan going horrendously wrong isn't as amusing at this point. And we thought Sawyer hated Jack before).

* Not even a glimpse of the tailies?

* Now when are they?! Is that like an Aztec temple or are those pirates? I'm confuzzeled! (Which, yeah, Lost. Comes with the territory).

* And they've cast from Deadwood again.

* There was an ankh in the guitar case? WTF?

* So, is it the fountain of youth or something and what saves Sayid will explain Richard? Or is Jacob going to take him over like Man In Black took over Locke?

* Hi Claire!

* And is this really going to be Sayid?

So in summary... I don't even...

Beats the hell out of me.

Huh?

The writers must've sprung for the expensive psychotropic drugs!

Hee, Lost is so, so confusing.

I think what's happened is that there is now a new timeline with the jet not crashing, but the original group is still stuck in their own timeline. Parallel Universes FTW!

And the guy from S1 is Boone.

Jack's master plan created an alternate universe where everyone's life sucks. It's his best plan ever!

Seriously, Jack needs to stop making plans! :)

I totally blanked on Boone's name.

But I'm also confused as to how they can exist in both universes at once. Huh...

We started out with flashbacks. Then we moved on to flashforwards. Now, with this episode, we've created the flash-sideways!

Jack killed Juliet. It's on my grudge sheet. She was the best thing about the whole show.

we've created the flash-sideways!

And it's the most confusing flash of all!

I have to admit I was totally with Sawyer kicking Jack in the head and vowing to kill him. (Then I was with Sawyer saying that Jack deserved to stay on the island and suffer like the rest of them).

And I'm totally convinced that this is not the last we'll see of Juliet. I think she's going to get a better end than this. It just may not be until near the end of the season.

Jack's plans NEVER go right.

At this point, I'm ready to blame anyone who listens to him! Whatever Jack says, DO THE OPPOSITE.

Yes, ARTZ!

BOONE.

AN ANKH

As Jason Linkins said on twitter: "ANKH IF YOU LOVE JACOB!"

That is what I think is happening. We are seeing both time lines at the same time. I just don't know how will all of this come together at the end.

I do agree with you. We will see Juliet again.

Heh, I love the confusion. I think they're in parallel timelines, or alternate universes or something. And I kept thinking of Apocalypse Now during the temple scenes (Scary!Fake!Locke as Kurtz, etc.). Also, the Temple of Doom.

But what I really screamed over was my boy John Hawkes as Hippie Interpreter Guy! I wish the character wasn't so weird and taciturn, although I'm glad John got a trip to Hawaii.

Too much time was spent on the loathsome Kate (as usual), but I sniffled through Juliet's death scene and thought Hurley was completely awesome throughout. It was fun to see all the dead people brought back to life, too.

I dunno; Lost has always been fun and maddening in equal measure and they're only going to ramp it up now. I find myself most concerned about Sayid (who like you I think will be Jacob's next avatar) and Richard, whose Flying Dutchman existence now seems to be somewhat in jeopardy. It's going to be totally weird from here on in, which is refreshing considering the state of the rest of American network TV.

I'm such a non-fan of Jack that I clap with glee when someone kicks his ass.

My present theory is about Sayid is that Jacob has inhabited him which is going to make him even more of a badass than he already was.

Love it when they cast from Deadwood. I loved that show so and always feels like seeing an old friend when a Deadwood actor shows up.

It actually seems as if some of their lives might be better in the alt.

And Boone's. And Rose's. And possibly Jack's.

To me, when we say things like 'Jack killed Juliet', we entirely negate the fact that Juliet has agency and exercised it. She choose to participate in the plan because she wanted Sawyer to be able to go home and she believed this would do it. Jack's not responsible for her choice or her death. We could just as well say that Sawyer was responsible for her death because she knew he'd go back to Kate eventually so Juliet decided to try to send him home instead.

Technically, it was Faraday's plan, true?

Unfortunately, Faraday is currently dead, so he can't be kicked in the head. :)

Oh, I'm not saying that Jack killed Juliet. I've never seriously thought of it that way. But, I understand why Sawyer feels that way. In Sawyer's mind, they were getting off the island, then they're presented with this wacky reset plan and Juliet 'went along with it.' Hence, Sawyer blames Jack. I'm not saying that Sawyer is right, nor am I saying that Juliet didn't choose or had no agency. She did both. (And I thought she was fairly ridiculous about it since it all seemed based on Kate). I'm just saying that I totally understand why Sawyer is pissed.

Personally, I love when Jack's plans don't go as planned. It's part of the fun of Lost. I'm not ticked with Jack. Of course, I've also always been convinced that this isn't the last we'll see of Juliet... but the characters can't know that and so aren't working on that schedule. :)

That's presuming that Rose doesn't have cancer in the alt_verse because in the original verse she chose to stay on the island and was quite happy to do so. She got years of life that she wouldn't have had otherwise, and Bernard was happy to stay with her and 'retire' on the island because he got years with her as well. So, based purely on a glimpse of them, I can't say that their lives are necessarily 'better'. They seemed to be happily 'retired' in 1977.

The ones I'm waiting to get pissed are Jin and Sun, whose child has now been erased from existence.

That said, I'm sure most of it will all work out in the end.

(And Boone is probably better off being a badass vampire in Mystic Falls. ;D)

I don't know about that... yet. Based mostly on reading interviews, I'm not sure that fate is that easily escaped. Timelines may have been altered, but it's also possible that they'll lead to roughly the same place (though I'm laying odds on six of one and half a dozen of the other. With some getting better fates in the original verse, and others having a better end in the other.)

I'm also sort of working on an idea that we've overly reduced Jacob vs. Man In Black into "Good" vs. "Evil". They may be "Fate" vs. "Free Will" instead making neither particularly good or evil, but both being hellish taskmasters.

At any rate, this isn't what the Lostees thought was going to happen when they set off the bomb, and they -- the original they -- didn't get a reset. They're still there on that damned island. :)

Well, Elizabeth Mitchell has admitted to returning to film one more episode, no word on how/when/where in time/place/flashback/flashforward/flashsideways it could occur. But we definitely haven't seen the last of her. :)

Well, Hurley's seems to be. And Bernard and Rose are pretty much the same anywhere, as long as they are together. And Boone isn't dead, and unlike Charlie, didn't enormously need redemption. But most of the primary characters are worse off.

Boone also seems a little more confident, less wrapped up in Shanon.

Jack doesn't seem any worse off to me. Nor does Sawyer.

Over on EW (I think. COuld have been TV Guide), they actually had a clip where they were running the two scenes together side by side. There's surprisingly little that is different between them until the actual explosion of the craft.

Lost requires embracing the confusion. :) And, yeah, it's kind of fun to have no idea what could happen because Lost doesn't have many rules.

And I feel the same about the Deadwood folks.

Well, I disagree. :-) I think Rose's demeanor is different in the ALT -- she seems much less tense to me. It has something to do with her body language in terms of how she's holding her head and spine. And I think Jack seems a little more stoic in the original timeline. YMMV.

Date: 2010-02-12 02:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shipperx.livejournal.com
Well, yeah, Jack was more stoic. But I figure he's suffering a massive case of deja vu. :)
