It strikes me that 'good' exists only in relation to other people. Yes I think this actually is the message, with love being the highest expression of good.
And as shipperx replied to me elsewhere, it's a pretty cool reiteration of "live together, die alone".
It will be the Losties relationships with each other that will break this ageless pattern, and Jacob and the MIB will both be irrelevant (I think/hope). Either the MIB is representative of humanity, each one of us, and that's why he has no name of his own.
