On vacation. Luckily, our cabin has wifi. So, Lost...

Seemed like mostly setting up the finale. A few points Glad that the only reason Kate wasn't a candidate was because Jacob had just decided that it was because of Aaron. I really don't care whether or not she was a candidate, but it was irking me that no women were on the list (although...er... hey, Jacob! If Kate wasn't a candidate because she was a mother, what about BOTH Jin and Sun? Why were either of them still candidates when they had the tyke elsewhere? Huh? Anyway, at least it seemed to come down to Jacob idiosychracies as opposed to something else.

Also, I assume Jack having accepted becoming 'the new Jacob' in this episode means that it's removed as an obstacle for the finale. So it's not really a question of who is the new Jacob. And since Jacob said "as long as necessary" perhaps they can destroy the island and Unlocke and all wind up in the Altverse.

Anyway, found the Island story not all that compelling this week. That said, where they left off with Hurley, Des, Kate, Sayid was interesting. The alt!verse was kind of fun. I'm looking forward to how they work that out.

I too went "Buh?" at Jacob's reasoning for crossing off Kate's name. It's possible "Kwan" was for Jin who never got off the island, which is why his name was left up...but still, it irked me.

Agreed on the Altverse.

So I'm thinking that the Kwon on the list was Jin, not Sun, based on that reasoning?

I guess the situation with Kate is just symptomatic of Jacob's mommy issues.

They did leave the sideways verse at a fascinating point - and a very good one, because this will probably get all current and old characters in one place for a crowning moment of awesome (and my inner fangirl can only hope that this concert involves Daniel Faraday, and Sawyer and Juliet can go get coffee afterwards.) The Island-verse is now a very austere place - so many people we loved are now dead, and so I'm kinda disinclined to care much who becomes the next Light-Keeper of the Island (God, that just sounded like the title of a horrid Thomas Kinkade painting!), though I do think it was a good idea to have Jack step up in this episode, so that we don't have to be stuck in the mire of "who's the next Jacob?" question during the finale. One thing about this episode I didn't like was how Ben seemed to turn his back on his redemption arc in order to carry out revenge on Widmore, but Alex served as an apt reminder of why he may have regressed in such a way. All in all, pretty good for a penultimate episode, and I'm inclined to give it bonus points because all of my recent experiences with the word "penultimate" have been in relation to the Twilight arc of Season 8, and even Thomas Kinkade looks legit in comparison to that drivel.

Presumably its only Mum's that made him cross themout, as Sawyer is a dad.

Yup, so not surprised at Jack as New Jacob.

Maybe if they destroy the island, the light will be set free into the world rather than imprisoned. Even if bad gets out too, at least maybe there'd be more light too to balance it.

I don't think Ben's had a redemption arc as such - he's just been beaten up so often that people started feeling sorry for him.

I dunno. Maybe the light is the evil. I mean, it was getting tossed into the light that created Smokey, after all. Aside from (presumably) healing seriously injured people, has the light ever done anything good?
