Back from vacation. Had a nice time at the beach. The weather was gorgeous (and still very hot). No noticeable oil (but huge swathes of algae), but then I tend to only look at the beach with an umbrella drink in hand and reserve swimming for the pool.

Biggest surprise was that when we booked the trip (for rent by owner) the real estate company that ended up booking it said that there was a $250 gift certificate with the booking. We weren't all that impressed because usually those things are coupons along the line of "Spend $250 get $50 off" so we almost considered not even going by the real estate office to pick it up. Turns out, it really was a $250 gift card. I'm left wondering if this was part of the BP economic damages, because it was stipulated that it could not be traded in for cash or used anywhere outside of Destin. That said, between the $250 gift card and the 50% of sale, we actually broke even on the trip.

Cat was happy to have me home.

I did check in on the my dad's ipad while I was gone (and posting responses on that thing isn't easy) so I know about the preview and the array of reactions to it, and I'll probably write something about what does and doesn't satisfy me with Spuffy at some point, but not tonight. It's back to work tomorrow and I'm off to bed.
