As is so often the case in the world of movies, it was mere tittle-tattle surrounding Spider-Man 2. Yes, Maguire did aggravate a long standing back complaint while shooting racing drama Seabiscuit but, if the actor is to be believed, talk of recasting Peter Parker was designed simply to get him to buck his ideas up. "I didn't appreciate the seriousness of the situation," explains Maguire who rested up with his injury rather than reporting to the set. "My behaviour was completely inappropriate. I could have come in earlier but I was exhausted. I feel like I've learned a lesson from this - the movie is the most important thing."
