I couldn't resist this one. Even if no one guesses, I had fun doing it.

Yeah, though technically I was actually listening to Tori Amos doing a cover of the song, but no way anyone would guess that. There's the same sort of problem with another song on this list in that I was listening to another artist cover a song written for a different person. But since no one could know it's a cover, I'm accepting the initial artist answer.

I can't begin to tell you how much it weirds me out that I didn't even recognize one of these. I'm curious about #10, though.

LOL! Don't be weirded out. Most of the songs didn't (and don't) get radio play. Many of them are tracks from CDs that were never singles in the first place. And I listen to Alt_Rock anyway so with only a few exceptions, most wouldn't be top 40.

It's (heh) "The Sky is Broken" by Moby. It was used in the X-Files episode "Small Things"... the one where Fate led Scully back to Mulder.

Actually, if you listened to top 40 I wouldn't expect to recognize them. I suppose this is my age showing, however. On my own list you'd find mostly Sting, plus classic rock and a sprinkling of new wave. This newfangled stuff - I'll leave it to you young whippersnappers. ;-)

I have been meaning to get some Moby, though.

Correct. However, this is the other song I told Nmissi about where I was actually listening to a cover of the song. I was actually listening to the Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt" (Which is truly awesome). But, like the Tori Amos cover of The Cure's song, how in the hell is someone supposed to figure out I was listening to a cover?
