While looking up quotes for the movie quotes for the Movie Quote Meme I discoverd that (thus far unidentified) movie #1 had so many great quotes that it was difficult to pick. Damn, that movie had great dialog. Thought I'd share more of it.

The Quote in the Meme:

"The day those stout hearts band together is the day that pigs get wings."
"There'll be pork in the treetops come morning."

Other great quotes from the same movie:

Poor John. Who says poor John? Don't everybody sob at once! My God, if I went up
in flames there's not a living soul who'd pee on me to put the fire out!

*

"I made Louis take me on Crusade. I dressed my maids as Amazons and rode
bare-breasted halfway to Damascus. Louis had a seizure and I damn near died of
windburn... but the troops were dazzled."

*

"What would you have me do? Give out? Give up? Give in?"
"Give me a little peace."
"A little? Why so modest? How about eternal peace? Now there's a thought."

*

"We could tangle spiders in the webs you weave."

*

"We're off to Rome to see the Pope."
"He's excommunicated you again."

*

"I'm villifying you for God's sake - pay attention!"

*

"He had a mind like Aristotle and a form like mortal sin."

If you're broken it's because you're brittle...

Absolutely fabulous movie. Katherine and Peter were perfect for the roles.

Katherine is magnificent in the movie. And Peter just goes at it with such gusto.

I love that movie.

One of the first historical novels I rememebr reading was a life of Eleanor of Acquitaine, narrated by Eleanor after her death--she was in heaven, waiting for one of her husbands to die. (I think. It was a very long time ago.)
