Friday Night Lights

A day late (but I didn't get around to watching until this morning) but I thought last night's Friday Night Lights was wonderful.
The Tim/Lyla stuff was just so lovely and heartbreaking at the same time. First of all, those are two physically gorgeous people. Oh my, the camera does love them. And their story was so real and yet so sad. She's gone to college, but, come on, it would be hard to just forget Tim Riggins. Their interaction was just so bittersweet as they were lovely together. When she asked what Tim wanted out of life and he said "You," with that bright look in his eyes. It was awwweeee. When she asked, "Other than me?" His face fell and he looked away. "You." Lyla has a different life path than he does. She's going to go back to Vandy, get a degree and a career and lead an entirely different life than Tim, and yet... they were so lovely together. His kissing her at the bus station saying, "Good-bye, Lyla Garrity."
It was just lovely.
Then the Matt/Julie thing. First off, Tami was going to pop a gasket. Julie was darn lucky that her mother didn't start screaming the moment Julie walked in the door (and Landry giving in immediately when he was being interrogated was awesome. I even loved his misguided honesty in admitting that there was still a small part of him hung up on Tyra. {{hugs Landry}} Back to Matt, the Universe's Kicked Puppy. Like the Lyla/Tim break where they simply had to go their separate ways in life but the love was so there, the Matt/Julie parting was filled with the same bittersweetness. These are two genuinely decent kids who love each other, but Matt is dying in that town. He needs to leave, and Julie understood that. But the parting was still painful. I hope we get word that Matt manages to enter into college next semester.
I finally recognized "Vince". He used to be "Reggie" on "All My Children". I loved Reggie. That makes me a really easy sell on Vince. And I was glad to see his mother sobered up this week going to the game to see her son play. I'm looking forward to Vince's story.
