Hope everyone had a nice New Year.

Being an SEC girl, I had black-eyed peas, turnip greens, and a crap ton of football this weekend. Also being an SEC girl, I have to admit that the SEC East straight-up sucked this year.

South Carolina lost their bowl and badly. Latimore is a genuine talent, but he got knocked out of the game early and they didn't have enough weapons to stay competitive in the game. I felt sorry for Spurrier (and that's a weird sensation.)

An even stranger sensation is feeling sorry for Tennessee. I'm a Bama fan, so feeling sorry for Tennessee virtually never happens. Well, I guess with Fulmer gone I can. And I did. Feel sorry for them that is. I'll give Tennessee a pass on their bowl loss because Dooley got the coaching job at the last minute last year when Kiffen walked out, so he's had an uphill battle (and Kiffen was an asshole). Tennessee did make it into double overtime before losing (actually it was a bit of a shock that they made it to a bowl game at all). It was actually an interesting game to watch, though. That poor freshman QB will be having nightmares about that interception for a long time. Good game overall.

Georgia just sucked (as they have all year). Nothing good to say there. I wonder whether next year may be Richt's last.

Florida/Penn State was an interesting game as the score went back and forward. Generally, Florida was not good this year, however. Still, they pulled it out in the end, and I'm glad they won (though I have a soft spot for Joe Pa. I'm glad it was a relatively good game).

Mississippi State stomped Michigan. It was brutal. (I'm glad that Rich Rod turned Bama down when Bama offered him the head coach job a few years ago.) Mississippi State kicked butt. Good for them. Though it wasn't quite as brutal as...

Jeebus! Alabama slaughtered Michigan State. Just slaughtered. We were still scoring in the fourth quarter while we were playing our fifth string! It's been a fairly disappointing year since we had three losses (all close and we had a crap-ass schedule with six teams having an off-week before us so that they had two weeks to prepare and then we had four out of town games in a row -- glad the rule has now been changed so that every team in the SEC can't schedule their by-week before us.) But that's the way things roll. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We made mistakes and lost a few hard fought games. We were looking good in the Capital One Bowl, though. It actually reached a point of feeling a bit sorry for Michigan State. That kind of loss must've hurt and hurt badly.

Roll Tide.

So, now it's up to Arkansas to carry the SEC banner in the Sugar Bowl this Tuesday (go Hawgs!) and then it's Auburn playing for the National Championship (though I have to say I've always kind of liked the Ducks...and that my inner Bama and inner Auburn fan are at war with one another. Still, it's my alma mater, so War Eagle.:)
