Well... someone just crashed into my mailbox out front tearing up my grass and tearing down the wrought iron mailbox. Don't know what I'm supposed to do about that since the neighborhood association installed all of them... and it's broken. I got the teenager to give me his name and number and address (which turns out is 4 houses down the street).

Not a happy moment (and loud enough to alert me that something was wrong even from the kitchen. Considering that the truck DROVE OFF as I walked out the door and then parked up the street with one of the guys getting out and going inside, I wonder if he really would have come back and told me that he'd run into it if I hadn't walked out into the yard and stared him down like "Aren't you coming back?" That and the fact that the mailman/woman and I were both staring them down. She just happened to be delivering the mail.

Sigh... and no Angel DVDs were in the mail either.

Seems that poor Fen and Wendy have had it toughest. The kid's father arrived to say that they'd pay for having my mailbox fixed so ultimately, all I'm suffering is a little inconvenience and some scuffed up grass.

Glad to hear it will be fixed. And yes, in the scheme of things it's small potatoes, but when even the potatoes are fucked up, something's wrong with the world.

Well, it could be worse. No person or animal was harmed, just some old weedy grass. And the kid apparently told his parents after about 10 or 15 minutes because his father came over said they would pay the bill --whatever it was-- and then he and the son put my damaged mailbox back up for the interim. So inconvenient, but hardly tragic.

Isn't that a GOOD thing? Considering this:

... someone just crashed into my mailbox out front tearing up my grass and tearing down the wrought iron mailbox...

Think about it this way... At least your DVDs weren't *in* the mailbox when it was crashed into. ;-)

Bummer on all counts.

I'm glad you're ok.
