Have now been warned TWICE in 24 hours on TWoP... and I didn't even do anything ... at least not something that 2/3 of the board didn't do (which was make a post during the airing of the episode) and yet I'm the only one censured.

Hmm... thanks TWoP for reminding me again of exactly why you suck.

That's one of the reasons I left TWOP -- the mods get a little power-mad.

And I snicker every time I see the West Wing episode where Josh deals with the mod on a Josh Lyman bulletin board.

Yeah, when I signed up for a screen name on TWoP I said I felt ashamed of doing so because I know from BtVS fandom that TWoP is very much a dictatorship. It's just that I actually liked the AMC board. So I stuck quite happily to the Soap Operas forums where no one takes anything seriously. That tends to be the fun of (good) soap forums. It's free for all, GOOD NATURED snark. I don't tend to venture out into the Prime Time forums ruled with iron fists.

That was my mistake. I did. Though I've been on TWoP for a year without one warning, I ended up with two warnings in one day on a PrimeTime forum. One for an infraction so minor as to be ludicrous, and another really unfairly applied to me while overlooking worse infractions by others (in other words... typical TWoP).

I think the real problem was that I defended my view just a bit too well. I was censured because apparently I made a certain poster feel like her own position was dumb.

What am I supposed to say to that? "Well, it was?" It wasn't like I personally attacked this poster in any way. She just felt like I had invalidated the opposing position.

I was tired and sleep deprived enough that I refrained from responding to the mod on the board because I might get snappis, or perhaps respond with a childish "Whatever!" Neither of which would be helpful.

Frankly, I've just abandonned that thread and gone back to the Soap Forums where the snark roams free and is pretty much completely ignored by the self important Queen B's that control rule their prime-time kingdoms.

Why am I not surprised, hehe. I went and had a lurk there last night since I'm getting interested in Lost (and wanted to find out more about the Jin eppy) and as usual I pretty much loathed the place. I can see the pro-Jack/anti-Sawyer crowd getting all huffy with the pro-sawyer/anti-Jack posters (not another character/shipper war???), and then there's the character peeps vs the plot peeps. And self absorbed much, 'oh we definitely got a shout out, we are the coolest' - well there were a lot of boards talking about the battery issue including the Fuselage which - incidentally - has the actual creators and writers and actors etc posting and reading there mmkayyyy?

Gah and some of the snarky/anti comments for the show were misinformed.

Did I mention how much I think TWoP forums suck? *giggle*

Yes, TWoP sucks and I knew it before I joined it. It's just that their (largely ignored) Soap Forums can be rather fun (and are practically unmoderated). My problem is that I wandered into a Prime Time forum and got into a debate...and decisively winning. Which, if you're arguing with the wrong person means that you get bashed. (I really wish I had kept the LJ url I had once that had this huge discussion of the inner workings of TWoP and the dirt on the TWoP bigwigs.)

It's not that I'm offended by the warnings because (especially after having read all the previously mentioned dirt), I know just how petty and vidictive the mods on TWoP are. What really rather pisses me is that they attach the "warnings" to your name so that you carry the thing around like a scarlet letter! So really minor infraction and an oversensitive idiot and suddenly I'm Hester Prynne.
