That's What Comes with Adventure

So the weather right now is beautiful and the fall colors are coming out. Plus, for once I actually got my day off on my day off. So, since Sis was also off work we went to hike Oak Mountain. Lovely hike, but the park's maps were not to scale, so we ended up with a far more tough trek than we thought.
4 or 5 miles in we couldn't find the path back to the parking lot, and then wandered through unpathed woods for a while. When we discovered the 'trail' on the map, it wasn't actually a trail. That 'trail' was a 'dry creek bed' that...er... was not dry. It was a creek, so we trekked (w/o trails) up to the road, and where we finally reached the road was still 2 3/4 miles from the parking lot.
Up hill.
The entire way.
My sister's dog had already given out (she's 9). Zoe was beginning to lag. About about 1.+ miles up the road, I...er... had digestive issues. (No further details needed.)
But, overall, bad 'episode' aside, it was a nice day. Now, I'm exahausted and so is Zoe.
Good thing is that with that much exercise (and we really didn't start this morning planning to hike so far) is that I can now eat anything I'd like for dinner because I've burned so many calories.
There's always an up side. :)
