I thought he was bleeding and seriously injured? At least that's what I saw in the blurb last night when I got home from work. And it wasn't clear if he would survive or not.

He was injured from the shoot-out the night before (possibly again in the later shoot-out). He was taken to the hospital in 'serious condition' (which is a below critical), so I'm guessing a day of blood loss and subsequent dehydration from blood loss. They say that he's going to live and is conscious.
