Hi Y'all...

I feel like I disappeared for a while.  I didn't, but for some reason it feels like it.  Don't even know what I was doing.

It was the coldest, wettest 4th of July long weekend I ever remember. You can tell the weather is pretty effed up when out West they're roasting, the Northeasters are complaining about the heat, and the Southerners are looking around wondering why the frell is so darn cool on the 4th of July.

We lucked out and, though it was cloudy on the fourth, most of the deluge rain didn't hit until the fifth. (My garden is beginning to look distinctly jungle-like.  It's like we live in a rainforest these days).

I spent most of the weekend working on my closet project. I have sorted out a bunch of clothes for donation, and have 'outgrown' (read 'have grown smaller than') a bunch of other clothes. (At this point, I'm down to clothes I used to wear back in the 90s or things my sister gave to me when she lost so much weight last year).

I'm about 50% done with the built-ins for the closet (the trouser rackthat  I designed and Dad built works great).

EPIX also gave a free weekend, so I finally got a chance to see Whedon's Avengers. I may post thoughts later. Also got a chance to see The Hunger Games for a second time.

Watched a really odd (though amusing) movie Ruby Sparks about a novelist whose character comes to life and makes herself his girlfriend. He can't seem to stop himself from tinkering with her (by writing her behaving as he would wish) and screwing her up to the point where he realises that he's a control freak who (as his ex -- the girl who plays Jessica on True Blood) accuses him of only being capable of having a relationship with himself... which with Ruby, he sort of did. Anyway, odd but interesting movie.

Also saw The Master. Having read about L.Ron Hubbard (of Scientology) ages ago, I did 'get' the allusions going on. That said, I seriously, do not get the point of the movie. Everyone in it was crazy from beginning to end. The end.

Saw True Blood this week. Don't have much to say though.

Saw "Gasland 2.0" last night and it was possibly the most depressing thing I've seen since Jude the Obscure, only this was real. Seriously, see Icon. That's what that documentary was like. It makes one almost despair for the world.

Puppy is being groomed today (let's hope she comes back without having been skinned).

And I swear I'll get around to comments from last week sometime.

Hope everyone is having a nice summer so far.

I have exactly the same opinion about The Master. Great acting but...what's the point?
