Two parts have been recast.

"The Mountain" has been recast (again). The new guy is 6'-9" so... Mountainesque indeed.

The role of the Mountain was originated in season 1 by Conan Stevens, and recast with Ian Whyte in season 2. The character did not appear on Game of Thrones during season 3 and many had speculated that the role might be recast a second time.

More surprising...

GOT has recast Dany's boytoy Daario Neharis. And has gone with someone genuinely sexy who can act. (I'm basing this assessment on his being genuinely sexy during his turn as Liam on "Nashville" where he was sexy and not Fabio-esque. Though, I would guess that Daario's Fabio wig will be still be in evidence.) The actor has also had a role on HBO's "Treme", but I've never really watched that show.

No word on why the role was recast. (Since I disliked Daario in the book, I don't know whether it matters all that much that they recast the part with an actor that I liked and found sexy. But, I guess they had to do something to make him not look dull as dishwater next to Show!Jorah's stately sexiness.)

Huh. It's weird when characters are recast. It's hard enough remembering who everyone on this show is already, lol.

It's weird that they recast him, but I suspect I'll still find him annoying.

Hoping he'll look slightly less like a Motley Crue reject.

Either way, he's no Jorah.

OMG, I loathed Michael Huisman on Treme. His character was a step away from that awful flabby hipster moron Adam on Girls. UGH. There is no way he can even approximate what Ed Skrein did with Daario, which admittedly wasn't a lot. Huisman will certainly bring a certain washed-out greasy hipster vibe to the role, though.

Huisman is probably a lot more grateful for the role than Skrein was, all things considered. Skrein is a rapper and an actor on "edgy, urban" TV dramas in the UK, and maybe the producers didn't like the fit (or the wig). Really don't see how Huisman is an improvement, unless he's cheaper.

Have never watched Treme. He was sexier on Nashville than the intermidible Reyna+hubby+insufferable alcoholic guitar player... which isn't saying much, but is the only place I've seen the actor.
