Emmys

Well, that was weird.   Of course the Emmys usually are.

No issue with Breaking Bad winning.  I don't watch the show, but it has an excellent rep, so no real problem.  And, yeah, Modern Family is past its prime, but whatever. Not worth the energy to complain about it..

But then, the girl from Nurse Jackie winning... wha?

Worse, the guy from The Newsroom winning?  Er... no.  Look, I do watch The Newsroom.   It ain't all that.  Plus,  his is a fairly obnoxious character that he doesn't do anything all that striking with... so why?

And finally, Bobby Carnivale winning for Boardwalk Empire???!

No. No. A BAZILLION TIMES NO!

Godawful, wretched character that I hated with the white-hot-intensity of a thousand suns x10, and not  in a "his was such an awesome performance to make me hate him" way but because it was a cartoonish IDIOT psychopath of a character (who was unbelievable as a leader because someone would have to be a complete moron to work for him as he killed his very own helpers in erratic ways)  who worked my last nerve for far too many episodes in a row.   His character makes GOT's King Joffrey look multi-dimensional and canny by comparision.

If they were going to give a supporting Emmy to someone on Boardwalk Empire (though for the life of me I cannot think why they would feel the need to do so), at least give it to the only watchable character on the entire damn show (which would be Richard Harrow.)  Every other characten can (and should) slowly roast on a spit in hell for all I care, and Bobby Carnivale's character quadrupl-y so.

There's a reason that midway through last season I cringed that I still watched and then swore never again after its season finale.

Yeah, I mean, I don't hate Boardwalk Empire, but Rosetti DOES make Joffrey look multi-dimensional -- I mean, compare (on the show, I haven't read the books) the handling of Joffrey/Margaery to Rosetti and, yeah. Agreed on Harrow. I don't hate BE, but I guess I have mostly lost interest because there is a who-cares tone to the whole proceedings.

I've never watched Nurse Jackie, but very much agreed about both Daniels and Cannavale. Jeff Daniels, much like his show, is... adequate. That's about it. Not bad, not good, not exceptional in any regard. Lukewarm, workmanlike, professional. Adequate. And Gyp Rosetti was easily the worst thing about the last BE season.

And considering the heroin laced whorehouse proxy-incest murder, that's saying something.
