Watched Glee last night. I am, at best, a VERY casual (occasional) fan, but I did want to see the good-bye episode for Finn.

Terribly sad.

Understandably, they tried to handle the situation with Lea Michelle quite delicately (as apparently she REALLY dated Cory Monteith (SP?) Her appearance was therefore brief and somewhat understated with co-stars carrying more of the episode. That seemed the most compassionate route to take under the circumstances.

I thought Naya Rivera did a good job. (I guess I can understand how processing grief can come out through anger)

However, the scene that was most heartbreaking was with Finn's mother, stepfather, and Kurt. That was incredibly painful. The sobs of the actress playing his mother were devastating.

Such a sad waste.

I haven't watched yet. I cried reading your post. I agree. Such a waste.

Yeah, I only rarely watch an ep myself, but I had to watch this one. I couldn't stop crying. I like that they didn't say how Finn died, it feels more meaningful that way.

From what I heard Lea and Cory were engaged when he died, so I can't even begin to imagine what that must have done to her.

I was going to tape it, but forgot. I probably would have been bawling all the way through.

The mother, kurt and kurt's dad scene got to me - I cried during it. Then during Naya Riveria's song and Rachel's (Lea Michele was engaged to him at the time).

It was a good episode, but I wish they'd expressed more through music and less through dialogue. Glee's musical performances are its strength.

But I can understand why they went the way they did. Also, not telling how Finn died was a shout-out to the media about the insanely painful obsession and focus over how Montief died in the papers.

I find it so incredibly sad that someone could be so universally beloved but still be so vulnerable to a deadly addiction.
