It seemed rather heavy on narrative exposition, didn't it?

I think it kind of stunk overall. I was never in love with Matt Smith, but even I thought this was sort of a tepid sendoff. It felt manufactured, especially the appearance of [ugh] Amy.

The most exciting part was seeing Capaldi at the end. Really looking forward to his tenure, as I think he can elevate Moffat's stupider conceits to the better, if not to greatness.

Yeah. I wasn't thrilled with the ep. Clara, who was so awesome in her first two incarnations (Oswin/dalek and governess/Clara), is pretty awful in this one (she "fancies" him--oh sheesh). I'm hoping that with Capaldi, the dynamic changes a bit.

I think Matt Smith has been a great doctor, but I never liked Amy, so I was sorry to see her show up at the end. The last episode was the best one (with Tennant/Smith/Hurt).

I heard a rumor that it was kind of chopped down from ideas which were originally supposed to have taken a whole season. If so, that might explain the overstuffed plot. Or maybe Moffat was just being Moffat.

I didn't think it was that bad. It wasn't fantastic like the 50th anniversary was, but it would have been damned difficult to top that. It was a pretty standard Moffat Christmas episode, really. Heavy on the sentiment, last-minute miracle, kids in peril...
