It's cold, y'all!  COLD!

Come on, weather, I live in the deep South.  In a state the runs into the Gulf of Mexico.  It's not supposed to be freaking 12F (-11C) degrees!

It's a balmy -17F (with the wind chill) right now.

It's 29° here in Austin and we got some sleet overnight so the entire city is shut down. Our friends in Chicago are laughing their asses off.

True.

Then again, our building codes are designed around heat gain rather than loss.

It's warmed up here a little the last day or so. Wednesday morning at work it was -15 without the windchill. -5 this morning, presently +5.

Makes all those old west stories set on the plains where they talk about claustrophobic winters more relatable.

Practically balmy!

(Do you have cabin fever yet?)

It's weird how you almost get used to it. It's been cold for over a week now and you get acclimated. It's that up and down stuff that gets you. The weekend before last it was 65 here. If it had went from that to this like it has for you guys I'm sure everyone around here would be in a ball in the corner.

I force myself to walk an hour and a half a day, rain, show or shine, so I've staved off cabin fever. Still, there is this sense of being boxed in.

Yes, I was complaining about NYC being 16 degrees today...which was the high, -8 with wind chill. That's Kansas weather, not NYC weather, we're supposed to be 30 degrees.

Meanwhile Hilton Head, South Carolina which is supposed to be in the 50s and 60s, is in the 20s and 30s.

Stupid Polar Vortex.

And we're getting cold here again tonight. So glad for my furry hot water bottles. (dogs)
