I generally think the world is a pretty good place (or at least tries to be) despite its flaws.

But this is utterly, bloodily horrifying.

A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at the University of Virgina (trigger warning)
It makes you want to go medieval on someone. Many someones.

Between this and the tragic, unfunny farce of the Ferguson grand jury (*spit*), it's hard to not say that the world sucks.

Yes, I read the Rolling Stone article the other day. Absolutely horrific.

Yes. I love how the president of UofV characterized gang rape as "bad behavior." Lady, drinking and throwing up at a party is bad behavior - gang rape is a felony offense.

I woke up today with such a heaviness of soul and spirit that I can't even tell you. It's 2014 and nothing has changed. I don't think it ever will.

My husband maintains that Obama's election and administration has brought out all that is hateful and vicious in some Americans and pushed it to the quivering, insane surface. I sort of agreed with him before, but now I totally agree with him. Ferguson was the final litmus.

It makes me sad to have to agree with you. That University of Virginia story is sick making and the Ferguson situation makes me even queasier.
