Okay, so I know that there's some Bible trumps Science ideology going on with right-wing answers (obviously).  But seriously, how damn stupid is it to believe humans are more powerful than volcanoes?!   Or to not know that the Arctic affects the weather.  Have they never LOOKED at the national weather reports... ever?

You know, the funny thing is that my husband is an engineer, and after growing up in a very conservative/fundamentalist Christian home, he's calling himself a reluctant atheist because he can't ignore the scientific evidence.

But yeah, the humans>volcanoes states are mindboggling.

I would have thought the humans>volcanoes thing is about who has the most impact on global warming through CO2...? Which is quite clearly us at the moment.

Oh, hey, that makes sense since so much of it is global warming stuff. I hadn't thought of it that way.

Although, if we had huge enough volcanic release for it to outpace human C02 (and methane. Wonder what fraking questions would have looked like.) Anyway, you'd think enough volcanic activity for that would require more eruptions in the news.

Apparently there's this meme going around that just says "Volcanoes release far more CO2 than humans, so it's all natural and no need for us to do anything about". I don't know if anyone's tried to back it up with anything resembling facts, it seems to be one of those things where the only proof needed is "Everybody knows that..." or "Common sense tells us that..." or "Any idiot can figure out that..."
