Cause I still talk about him. :P

JAMES MARSTERS VISITS "SMALLVILLE" AS THE EVIL BRAINIAC
Burbank, CA July 22, 2005

James Marsters sinks his teeth into another juicy role for The WB when he joins the cast of SMALLVILLE for multiple episodes. Marsters will portray Brainiac, a classic DC Comics villain and one of the Man-of-Steel's most formidable enemies. Additionally, one episode this season will reunite series star John Schneider with his former "Dukes of Hazzard" co-star, Tom Wopat. Marsters plays college professor Milton Fine, alter ego of the uber-villain Brainiac. Possessed of a vast, superior knowledge limited only by his hubris and emotions, Brainiac comes armed with a secret about Clark's biological family and the truth about Krypton's demise. Brainiac's presence in Smallville will have a devastating effect on Clark and Lex's already deteriorating friendship.

Marsters first appeared on The WB in the critically acclaimed hit series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as Spike, the vampire who first tries to kill Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), but ultimately falls in love with her. After five seasons on the show and Spike's untimely demise, Marsters' character was reborn as a ghost on the series spin-off Angel starring David Boreanaz.

Marsters began his professional career in the theater, performing in stage productions including "The Tempest" and "Red Noses" at Chicago's renowned Goodman Theatre. In addition, Marsters revisited the stage in Los Angeles with a starring role in an original play produced by Noah Wyle, titled "The Why." Additional television roles include a guest appearance on "Northern Exposure" and the series "Strange Frequency" for VH1, as well as on Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda."

It's my playground. Don't mock.

I am really happy for James that he got this role... esp if he is excited about it.
I am a little sad tho... 'cause I don't think Smallville is showing in Australia any more **sigh** I can't remember the last time I saw an ad for it! Maybe it is just on hiatus **looks hopefull**. I don't like Smallville... but hey... James!! So if it IS on here... I will definitely be watching it!

And that's it, isn't it? I don't watch Smallville either, but I will at least watch the episodes James is in even if I don't understand what the frelling heck is going on. :)

That's one of the things I was happy about with him starting on "Smallville" -- I have at least a basic idea of the premise and the characters... and know a little bit more about what's been going on and the relationships and so forth from reading LJ entries over the past few years (that, and I tended to catch the last five minutes or so when it was on right before AtS). So, no need to spend the rest of the summer trying to catch up on a new show (and there are plenty shows out there that would have been physically painful to watch, so I'm glad it's simply a show I was uninterested in, previously).

Well, I do kinda find Smallville painful to watch, but I think the Brianiac character sounds like fun. And if he plays him as a meek college professor by day and evil genius by night, woo hoo! *g*

Yeah, see. Think -- suits and glasses by day. And then (drumroll, please) leather pants of eeeeeevil by night.

The way I look at it, what's there to know?

Superman is a model, Lana is lame. We're rooting for the villain to kill them all. Easy. :)

Heh. It's Superman. How much do we really need to know?

Besides, we'll just be rooting for the bad guy to kill the all! Mwhahahahahaha! (Could be fun, actually).

Dunno. Knowing the fandom, clips will probably be available somewhere online. Either that or BitTorrent. And if all else failes, Smallville has DVDs.

Looking forward to seeing him - not planning to catch up with the show first, though. I don't care what else is going on, I just want to see James.

Personally, I see no reason to try to catch up with the show and I have no intention of doing so. I'll just be there to hope for some pithy snarkage and maybe a suit... or leather pants of evil.

It should be angst-free... which has its advantages.

Heh. Since JM mentioned that he was growing his hair out for a role, I'm thinking this particular Brainiac won't be bald.
