Finally got power back. Yay.

From Birmingham News:
Alabama Power crews, aided by out-of-state linemen, worked throughout the day Friday to get the state plugged back in after Hurricane Ivan knocked out electricity for more than half the utility's customers. [...] lights gradually came on for Alabama residents and businesses. In some cases, flipping a breaker brought back power. By sundown Friday, Alabama Power had restored power to more than 119,000 customers in Jefferson and Shelby counties, leaving 101,362 still in the dark at 10 p.m. Friday. Across Alabama, more than three-quarters of a million customers remained without power at 10 p.m. Friday... At the peak of the outage Thursday afternoon, nearly 1.3 million out of 2.3 million of the state's homes and businesses lost power.

I can't find this article but it was rather funny. Some idiot in Homewood got a raft out and he and his kids were "white water rafting" in the storm run-off in Homewood Park. Promptly after the idiot was filmed, the police showed up and arrested him for child endangerment. Apparently they couldn't make the charge stick but I liked the Mayor of Homewood's quote "too bad you can't arrest people for stupidity."

Anyway, carpet drying in the yard and I need to buy new for the bedroom. Other than that, things look pretty normal around here at least.

Picture... of one of the shelters here in town:

A few more pictures of the mess south of us at Orange Beach and Gulf Shores:

And pretty surreal picture of Gulf Shores:
