DeborahMM has read the new BtVS/AtS magazine and has some interesting quotes here:

Have to say I love how now that JM is finally out from under ME he finally can say the truth about how he/Spike was treated. Way to go, JM!

And, I heart Peter David and I'm glad he's writing the Spike comic.

Go James. It's good to hear him finally able to say what he's clearly wanted to for a long, long time.

I'm glad he can finally come out and say these things too. He was always forced into the plot and NEVER given his own plot/story by Joss. Joss never gave a damn about Spike and I think JM always felt that but couldn't say it because Joss was his boss.

Finally James! He is right of course. I'm amazed that people regard Spike as Joss's creation. I love Joss but he certainly did not create Spike specificly. Every writer collabrated some bits and James took them and gave them life. Spike is pretty much a living breating creature.

PAD rules!

Yeah, I've always considered Spike to be a creation of serendipity. Joss never, EVER focused on Spike. Spike was a tool he needed in certain instances and he threw him into the mix. Joss created Spike through plot not because he was creating a character. Spike served the plot... here's Spike. He wasn't planned. His journey wasn't planned. His complexity is because of his being tugged into various plots and written by various actors and JM finding a throughline.

Spike was a happy accident. A product of good timing, factoring into the story at significant moments, and having an actor who could infuse the moments with humanity so that they held together and made a whole.

Basically, Joss is just damn lucky he got creatively knocked up by accident and gave birth to Spike. Joss's planned births seem to end up less successful in the long run.

And boy did he resent being lumbered with the unwanted offspring, and took it out on the poor lad.

Reports Joss to Social Services. /joke.

Hee! He gets a role on Smallville and now he's really feeling his oats. Go James -- give us more dirt!

I'd put money that there's more coming.
If money and fandom weren't mixy things;)

That and I think he doesn't believe there will ever be a Spike movie so he has no bridges to burn.

Go JM! Get it all out. You'll fell better!
