1. A structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group.
2. A physiological or temperamental peculiarity.
3. An unusual individual reaction to food or a drug.
List five of your own idiosyncrasies and then tag five friends to do the same.
1) I have a thing about sheets. Screwed up, I'm sure. I have many sets (because I have a thing about bedsheets). They all have to be 100% cotton, but it's more than that. They have to be Percale or Egyptian Cotton, but prefereably not Sateen finish. They have to be Wamsutta or Ralph Lauren (though I found a Tommy Hilfiger set this last weekend that if the proper size had been available, I would have bought). They have to have a "crisp" feel not slinky. They have to be not less than 300 threadcount. AND they have to be pale in color -- actually they have to be white, pale yellow, or pale green. See! I said I have a really weird thing about bedsheets. It's self indulgent and strange (and part of the reason why I only have a 'full' mattress rather than a 'queen'... the sheets are cheaper).
2) I can't wear pink. I don't mean that in "I"ve had my colors done" way. There's a shade of pink that would flatter anyone, but I quite simply cannot bring myself to wear pink. It just feels weird.
3) I have a drawer full of Days of Our Lives video tapes from the late 80s/early 90s in my storage closet. I haven't watched them in years, but I can't bring myself to throw them away (I was obsessed with the Jack and Jennifer ship in 1990).
4) I have a thing about pillows. I have 8 pillows on my bed (all of which are down or feather. They have to be down or feather). I have many pillows on my sofa... some made from fabrics which I have bought (I have a thing about upholstery fabrics. I can fall in love with them. Can't afford to keep changing furniture but I can recover throw pillows),a couple of readymade ones, one (insanely overpriced but beautiful wool needlepoint) I bought. The sum total cost of the pillows is actually more than I paid for the sofa itself (which I actually got in an incredibly good deal because of a Storehouse floor model sale). And I have a bunch more pillows on my guestroom bed. Hmm... Maybe it's just some strange fabric fixation.
5) If I have a bad day, am depressed, have had a bad week, etc... I buy a book. It's like a shop-aholic pick-me-up or something. I have a stack of unread books, but I still buy books. Oh, well, I could have a more expensive habit than that.
