(Still waiting for actually recognizable names to review -- though Variety has a quasi-article/review on it from August.)

ROUSH RIFF
Don't get me wrong, I had a good time at the movies watching Serenity, Joss Whedon's rollicking sci-fi/Western follow-up to his short-lived Fox series, Firefly. Unlike bigger-budgeted space epics (like the last few Star Bores— er, Wars), it has genuine humor and heart amid the adventure, as ragtag mercenaries — led by Nathan Fillion as Capt. Mal Reynolds — outwit and outfight their foes. But I couldn't help feeling I was seeing an overblown, exposition-heavy episode of a TV show. Movies may have a bigger screen, but TV provides a grander canvas for Whedon's storytelling. Maybe Sci Fi Channel can do the next sequel.
