Indiana Jones 4: Not as fun as the first or the third.  Not as annoying as the second.   However, whatever criticisms I might have, my shipping inner twelve year old squeed that Indy married Marion.  They were my Indiana Jones OTP.

Enchantment: Yeah, I know that it's over a year old, but I hadn't seen it, okay?   Anyway, could die from cuteness (in the good way).

1408: Underwhelmed.  Not a bad movie but for Stephen King hotel creepiness The Shining has it beat all to hell.

August Rush: Patently ridiculous modern Oliver Twist fable... that I'm totally an easy sell for.  The stupidity is rampant.  The plot is absurd.  The characters are mostly ciphers, and I didn't care because it made me feel all squishy inside.

BSG Season Finale: Oh, come on.  They can call it a 'mid-season break' but when the second half doesn't begin until 2009, call it what it is -- another season.  Anyway (WARNING! Spoilers Ahead!) , despite Tigh rocking the episode pretty hard (I would never have fogiven Apollo had he flushed Tigh out of the ship), I think I'm done with the show.  Not out of anger or frustration but out of... I don't know.  Ennui?

I've always had problems connecting to most of the characters on BSG.  Quite frankly, I cannot stand at least half of them, and I don't like nearly all of them. My greatest enjoyment with the show has usually been watching Six frak with crazy-ass Baltar's mind.  So with this season's finale (mid-season break) producing the event of the Gallactica at last finding Earth, and finding Earth to be a nuclear holocaust, global warming wasteland.  What's the dramatic impetus from here?  They don't have enough genetic diversity for the human race to survive.  Even if they were to add in the Cylons, there are very few models.  Cylons might survive, but humans?  Not so much.  For them it's just the long, slow wait for inevitable death... which is a valid dramatic choice, of course, and would work for an ending.  The problem that I have is that having solved the quest, we're left with a bunch of characters I do not like in a totally nihilistic situation.  I'm not intrigued or breathless.  I'm left with "Oh.  Okay then.  Guess they're frakked."   Shrug and onto what's on a different channel.  Basically, I don't have much of an urge to find out 'what's next'.   Either the show backtracks and overturns its initial claim that the human race cannot survive without horrific inbreeding that would lead to extinction  (and there are even fewer humans now than when they made that statement) or they are just having a drawn out epilogue where the characters resolve to nobly face the slow death of their species.  Either way, I don't see where I gain dramatically from where they are right now.  The first option is a cop-out.  The second doesn't interest me in the least, and doesn't even joyfully feed into my not-so-latent desire to see most of the characters killed off.  I am not looking forward to a stoyline based on fatalistic navel gazing.

All in all, I think I'm done here.  I just don't give that much of a damn, and didn't even before they reached this 'life is pointless' midseason climax (Oh, I'm sure they'll come up with something other than 'life is pointless' by the end,.  It will probably be some 'humans must depend on Cylons to survive.  Cylons are the the true human progeny' resolution. But I won't be watching any more.)

BSG, it's not you.  It's me.  I'm just not that into you.  Sorry.  kthxbye
